different type of wireless antenna in BTS sectored directional omnidirectional antenna





Three different type of antennas are used in BTS tower of mobile communication
1. Microwave link to connect BTS to another BTS or another BSC.
2. Sectored antenna provide coverage to Mobile user
Omnidirectional antenna may be used for umbrella approach

    RF antenna are the sectored antenna..(in normal case minimum sector angle should not be less than 60 degree)....
    Microwave antenna is the directional antenna.. this is used to make link to the BTS which not connected to main network by underground optical cables...
    omni directional antennas are rarely used in Mobile comm. it is mainly used to cover small towns in hilly area...
    nitin please correct me if i am wrong at any point....

  2. oops i have not seen ur explanation....sectored antenna also called as RF antenna.. they work on actual GSM frequencies...
    like gsm 900
    uplink 890-915 MHz
    downlink 935-960 MHz...
